I finally have an appointment on Friday with a oral surgeon (hopefully I'm seeing the doctor in the right practice) since my last post its been a total of 6 days since I've started taking antibiotics I do feel relief of symptoms such as nomore headaches or ear pain...but lmyph node in lower neck is still slightly swollen and tongue is still completely white and slightly sore in back...I have a very small pimple in the middle of lip for 6 days now not painfull and hasn't changed in size...I've read online white tongue for 2 months now could be a sserious condition or could be due to smoking but shouldn't it have cleared by now if it were smoking related I haven't smoked in 3 weeks all of this made me quit cold turkey!...well any postive feedback will be great while I wait. | | | | | Joined: Nov 2006 Posts: 2,671 Patient Advocate (old timer, 2000 posts) | | Patient Advocate (old timer, 2000 posts)
Joined: Nov 2006 Posts: 2,671 | First of all, Congratulations!! on being smoke-free for three weeks already! Good for you! Hope your appointment with the oral surgeon brings you some positive news. I've never smoked so I don't know about whether the white tongue should have cleared up by now but maybe somebody else will get you some feedback on this. Let us know what happens with the oral surgeon.

As for smoking, your body will take time to adjust and that depends on how quickly you normall heal. The good new is the ear pain etc.. -are responding to antibiotics. Even thelymph node this is a plus and indicates an infection. But definitely have it heckled out and finish the antibiotics. Take care and good luck.

Female, nonsmoker, 70, diag. 5/09 after tongue biopsy: stage IV. Left hemi-gloss. and left selec. neck disec. 30 lymph nodes removed May 20. Over 7 weeks daily rads. with three chemo. PEG removed 12/4/09 Am eating mostly soft foods. Back to work 11/09 Retired 4/1/11. 7 clear scans! Port out 9/11. 2/13. It's back: base of tongue, very invasive
surgery involving lifestyle changes. 2/14: Now speaking w/Passey-Muir valve. Considering a swallow study. Grateful to be alive.
