friday, so i am assuming that the scan does indeed show something.. i am a wreck.. dad has been in bed for about 7weeks.. i am afraid that if this disease is back that we have exhausted all our options for dad.. i mean how much can one person take? he already did the rad/chemo treatments last year and salvage surgery december 2010.. his problem side has always been the left side.. the swelling and the red eye are on the right side.. after a week of being on the levaquin he said the pain in his eye has gotten better, but the swelling is still there.. any advise and/or input would be great.. thanks so much..
concerened daughter..

Wait to hear what they have to say - if this is someting new in a different location - the right side - they can radiate there - since he probably wasn't radiated before on that side. They will do what they can to get ahead of the cancer. Hugs to you - try to relax - and take care.

Slow down and relax a little. Don't think about bad until you get bad so your dad can relax too. I hope you are more calm around your dad. He needs a chuckle and a hug.

Since posting this. UPMC, Pittsburgh, Oct 2011 until Jan. I averaged about 2 to 3 surgeries a week there. w Can't have jaw made as bone is deteroriating steaily that is left in jaw. Mersa is to blame. Feeding tube . Had trach for 4mos. Got it out April.

thank you both cheryl and ezjim... im always cool and collect around my dad, i usually dont breakdown until the kids are tucked in bed and im alone at night.. my biggest concern with dad is his energy level. he is on the 50 fent patch and norco as needed.. basically he is in bed 24/7.. they did increase his synthroid about 7 weeks ago, which is about the time he started spending more time in bed.. they re-tested his tsh levels this past wednesday.. now the ENT wants dad back in next thursday for the dreadful biopsies.. dad just seems so out of it.. i pray every night and i stay positive.. i have to for him and my mom.. thank you both again for your responses..
xoxo

Hey - it's hard to watch a loved one suffer. The drugs really do sound like the reason he is so out of it... Try not to worry about the biopsies. Cancer is a one day at a time thing. As stressful as it is try not to worry constantly it's not good for you either. Especially because you have other loved ones that depend on you.
It really dies sound like his lack of motivation could be drug related and maybe he's a bit depressed to. but you wouldn't know that until he's drug free. Good luck and many blessings to you.

Oh Nicki, I'm so sorry. This is a good place for you. You are getting good advice and a place to vent. You are such a blessing to your parents. Remember to take some time for yourself (and not just to have a good cry at the end of the day when the kids are asleep.) Do something nice for yourself that will take your mind away for awhile and help you relax. I'll keep you, your dad and your family in my thoughts and prayers.

Sending a hug and wishing you peace,

Sandy
