She's starting to get a burn going and is tired and cranky (which, of course, I never was). Any way, rounding the final turn and, "DOWN THE STRETCH THEY COME".
David R. 65 yr old male non-smoker, light drinker, stage 3 or 4, depending on which doc you ask, scc rt. tonsil, 2 nodes, 7 weeks radiation and chemo. No surgery. Teatment ended 3/20/08. PET scan 8/08 showed no cancer. And now, as of oct, 2010, caregiver to wife, Linda, with breast cancer. May, 2013, Linda diagnosed with stage 3 ovarian cancer. Enuf already.

I was 42 when diagnose two years ago, smoker, light alcohol use, partial gossectomy, left neck dissection, peg, 7-09 IMRT, no chemo deemed nesseccary, 3-2011 HBO.

Sometimes I just feel like running down the street screaming. But none of us needs to see that so I keep up my attitude, it's healthier that way.

Remember to take care of you and to do things to feed your soul, to comfort your spirit. There isn't a rule that says you have to be strong and stoic 24/7. Be kind and gentle with yourself.
I hope that looking forward brings you and Linda hope and happy memories bring you two great joy to see you through her treatment and recovery. Every day is a step closer, every week is a leap forward.

Ex-spouse MISDIAGNOSED with SCC-HN IVa 12/10. Tonsils out 1/11. 4 teeth out 2/11. TX Erbitux x2, IMRT x2 2/11. 2nd opinion-benign BCC-NOT CANCER 3/11. TX stopped 3/11. New doctors 4/11. ENT agrees with 2nd opinion 5/11. ENT scoped him-all clear 7/11. Ordered MRI anyway. MRI 8/22/11 Result-all clear.

Then there will be 5 "lighter doses " over the scar tissue. Linda is getting badly burned and we know from experience that even after rt ends it keeps cooking for a while longer BUT, we are almost there.

Zilch. Nada. No mas. Radiation is complete! Poor Linda is so burned and that's a really hard area to put a dressing on and have it stay but the end is in sight. Already the burned area looks a little smaller. Apptment with oncologist on monday but other than that, no more running hither and yon for a while.

Age 58 at Dx, HPV16+ SCC, Stage IV BOT+2 nodes, non smoker, casual drinker, exercise nut, Cisplatin x 3 & concurrent IMRT x 35,(70 Gy), no surgery, no Peg, Tx at Moffitt over Aug 06. Jun 07, back to riding my bike 100 miles a wk. Now doing 12 Spin classes and 60 outdoor miles per wk. Nov 13 completed Hilly Century ride for Cancer, 104 miles, 1st Place in my age group. Apr 2014 & 15, Spun for 9 straight hrs to raise $$ for YMCA's Livestrong Program. Certified Spin Instructor Jun 2014.
