Cleaned my button out real good and see some redness but no sign of ingrown hair or pimple. It is more just a wierd feeling and discomfort but when I push in with some amount of pressure it kind of stings. No bulge or anything but still, I don't want to bring this up at work and we all know why. If say it is a hernia, can I do anything to heal naturally or would I definately need surgery? I know this is not a hernia forum but you guys are better than a shrink or the regular joe shmoe doctor the company will send me to, yeah the one who almost let me die. I have really gotten used to this no appointments for weeks at a time thing, damn I don't want to see a doctor about this crap. Thanks guys, I guess this was more of a vent/rant than anything.

Maybe you'll get a doctor you really like. It could happen. Before you go, maybe you could look up hernias on one of those MD sites like mayoclinic.com or WebMD. That way you'll know what questions to ask. And don't be one of those guys who puts off and puts off going to the doctor!

I dont know if the pain behind your belly button is a hernia or not. Or what sort of hernia. However, last summer my husband had a CT of his abdomen when his Mic-Key was too tight. It showed a hernia where the intestine had pulled away from the abdominal wall. It was just before chemo and rads, so everyone agreed to wait and worry about it later. That was over 10 months ago. Its been looked at several times since. It bulges out a bit and Tim pushes it back in. If he has horrible acute pain in the area, I am to take him to the ER. Tim is a professor and refuses to do anything before the end of the semester. And the doctors say thats ok. He sees the surgeon in three weeks. I think you can safely wait until your next appointment. But, please, go to the ER if you have acute pain.

I was typing while Anne-Marie was posting. She is absolutely correct!
I focused on the idea of a hernia, and the fact that you will be seeing a cancer doctor in the next month or so. However, the pain should not be ignored. It could due to the problems you had with your PEG or something else.
Thanks, Anne-Marie for seeing the big picture. I feel as though I was being like one of those doctors and nurses who would roll their eyes and scoff at me being the overprotective wife last summer.

Like the last few days my gums get inflamed and sore around the wisdom teeth, I look everyday in my mouth at least twice. Like I said my head is really screwed up and I don't know what to complain about or if it is still side effects from radiation. Anyone else experienced that, I am just kind of scared at times, it haunts me everyday. My tongue still looks real great, but my gums have been a bit sore. I was really just ranting, I guess I am more worried of what goes on in my neck and mouth for now.

I believe a hernia can be repaired Laproscopically these days. Maybe it is time to have this checked? Good luck and glad to hear you are back at work.
