My last radiation was 3/21 and I feel worse than I ever did during treatment. The advice others gave you helped me a lot. I send healing thoughts your way. -Michelle
SCC left tonsil, stage IV, HPV+, metastatic to one lymph node. Biopsy 12/23/10; tonsillectomy 1/13/11; DX 1/25/11; Peg in 1/28/11. Peg out 6/29. TX 1/31/11-3/21/11: 35 IMRT plus 3 Cisplatin. Pet-Scan 6/20/11 = CLEAR! Three years out, learning to live with the long-term side effects of radiation while reminding myself to feel blessed.

Each morning I say good morning to myself in a low grumble as drool and mucus and gunk trickle out. I use pen and paper to "talk." Not good for the five year old twins who can't read, but works with others. Good luck. I also wish my doc had said something about speech. -Michelle

| | | | | Joined: Apr 2011 Posts: 4 Member | | Member Joined: Apr 2011 Posts: 4 | I had 2 episodes of loss of voice. One during treatment and the other a month or so after treatment. I had Thrush both times and was extremely dehydrated. It is very aggrivating but it will pass.
Do your best to stay hydrated and keep the vocal cords moist.
