My Dad - 85 yrs old; 9/09 diagnosed T3NOMO; rad/low dose chemo; all clear; 6/10 - L retomolar trigone; more chemo; seems to have shrunk; 10/2010 back - significant ulcerative mass in the left retromolar trigone extending into the left tonsil

Where there is nothing that can be said to ease the pain of his passing, it is a comfort to know that he is out of pain. Reading his obituary, what an extrodinary man! I'm glad you chose the words "celebrate his life" as opposed to "mourn his death". This man lived. Korean War vet, nursing, traveled the wold...AND was married for 50 years!
Now that is a man that lived. It reminds me of a quote from Mark Twain..."...A man who lives fully is prepared to die at any time." What an example.
Celebrate indeed. I hope you find comfort, a man like this will be missed, but those memories will fill the hearts of his family and inspire them to live as he did.

My only hope is that the celibration of his life will inspire others, family and friends, and that his memory will be kept alive by the legacy and love he left behind and the many lives he touched in his selfless service to others.

cg to husband, 48 Stage 1V head and neck SCC. First surgery 9/07. Radiation and several rounds of chemo followed. Mets to chest and lungs. "Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass, it's about learning to dance in the rain." Went home to God on February 22, 2009.
