Age 58 at Dx, HPV16+ SCC, Stage IV BOT+2 nodes, non smoker, casual drinker, exercise nut, Cisplatin x 3 & concurrent IMRT x 35,(70 Gy), no surgery, no Peg, Tx at Moffitt over Aug 06. Jun 07, back to riding my bike 100 miles a wk. Now doing 12 Spin classes and 60 outdoor miles per wk. Nov 13 completed Hilly Century ride for Cancer, 104 miles, 1st Place in my age group. Apr 2014 & 15, Spun for 9 straight hrs to raise $$ for YMCA's Livestrong Program. Certified Spin Instructor Jun 2014.

They are the ones who truely understand the best. A caregiver can understand but its on a different level. Hope Linda is comfortable and has a smooth recovery. History Leukoplakia bx 8/2006 SCC floor mouth T3N0M0- Verrucous Carcinoma.
14 hour 0p SCC-Right ND/excision/marginal mandibulectomy 9/2006, 4 teeth removed, flap from wrist, trach-ng 6 days- no chemo/rad.
6 ops and debulking (flap/tongue join) + bx's 2006-2012.
bx Jan 2012 Hyperkeratosis-Epithelial Dysplasia
24cm GIST tumour removed 8/2013. Indefinite Oral Chemo.
1/31/16 passed away peacefully surrounded by family

Joined: Sep 2008 Posts: 711 | Got Linda home from the hospital about 3:00 this pm (it was supposed to be about noon but these things never seem to go on schedule). She's in good spirits, glad to finally have this behind her and the surgeon said that yes, cancer free is an accurate description. Now, if I can just get her to sit and rest abit..
David R. 65 yr old male non-smoker, light drinker, stage 3 or 4, depending on which doc you ask, scc rt. tonsil, 2 nodes, 7 weeks radiation and chemo. No surgery. Teatment ended 3/20/08. PET scan 8/08 showed no cancer.
And now, as of oct, 2010, caregiver to wife, Linda, with breast cancer.
May, 2013, Linda diagnosed with stage 3 ovarian cancer. Enuf already.

I buzz around straightening up and darn it if every single time dont I wear myself out. I hope she is feeling alright and doesnt overdo it. Im sure she will feel much better being home than in the hospital.

Joined: Sep 2008 Posts: 711 | Linda's surgeon called last night to tell her that one of the "sentinal nodes" that had been removed during the surgery has tested positive. We meet with her tomorrow and then the tumor board will discuss this on Jan 4. Until then, I really don't know what to think of this.

cg to husband, 48 Stage 1V head and neck SCC. First surgery 9/07. Radiation and several rounds of chemo followed. Mets to chest and lungs. "Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass, it's about learning to dance in the rain." Went home to God on February 22, 2009.

Joined: Sep 2008 Posts: 711 | We saw the oncologist today and the plan is 4 chemo tx 3 weeks apart follwed by radiation. No node dissection, that's the good news. So as soon as she gets her drain tube removed, hopefully this week, we can schedule the 1st chemo session. I so hope that this will be the end of it.
