Well, I am having surgery on Wednesday and not a moment too soon. It has gotten to the point that I ca not even drink boost or ensure without severe pain in my tongue or ear. How does it progress so fast?

It is amazing at how fast it can get big. But they are cells so they double in size so 2 go to 4 and to 8 and to 16. You see how it can get big real fast growing at that rate. I hope things go well with surgery Wed and you are able to get some pain relief very soon.

where is the new spot at? I hope it comes back negative for cancer, and maybe just an infection being the reason it is getting so big. The mind can play some lovely games on you when you are scared. I know mine sure did after treatment, but luckily for me, it was just an infected lesion and not cancer!

Angelia, did the results ever come back from your biopsy? It still is important to know if the problem was cancer or if it was benign.

I know you are having surgery and I wish you all the best. Hope you have a speedy recovery.

I come in so infrequently in the past year as I am always afraid of the very thing that is happening to Angelia. I am still cancer free after surgery 3/13/08 but every time I get a sore or my mouth hurts I am reminded of how scared I am of a return of the cancer. Kinda like an ostrich with my head in the sand. I lost my oncologist last August as she took a position in Vermont and now seeing new one at Wake Forest Univeristy Baptist hospital and am not impressed by him. Today should be the day you are having the surgery dear Angelia and I will say extra prayers for you today and until I see another post from you. God bless you!

T2N1M0 Stage IV SSC right lower alveolar ridge with fibula free flap, Peg, trach, selective neck dissection, one node positive. No Chemo or radiation.Surgery 3/08.Cancer free for 2 years as of March 13.

Hope is a good thing, maybe the best of things and no good thing ever dies.

Thinking about you right now, Angelia, as you prep for surgery. Cancer is bad enough but why NOW at this time of year when you should be deep into preparations for Christmas and all the festivities?! Prayers continue.....
