Well, I had two doctors appts today. One to follow up with my new oral surgeon after my surgery in Nov. and the other one with a new prosthedontist to discuss new teeth as part of the surgery in Nov was to put in implant posts. My surgery was in Oregon with the doctor that has been with me since the beginning and todays appts were with new doctors here in TN. The oral surgeon said that my mouth (situation) was a complicated one. When we saw the prosthedontist he was looking in my mouth and I could tell by the sounds he was making that it wasn't real positive.

This just seem to be the way that things have been going in my life with this stuff. Some things didn't happen that should have as far as communication between my surgeon here and my old surgeon and either one of them and me. But I believe that all things happen for a reason and believe that even if we had known it wouldn't have changed things much if anything. I have to wait till May to begin the process to even see if I will be able to get teeth. This was very hard on my mom. I am sure it will be hard on me too if it comes to that. Only time will tell.

Brandy,

Now there are Dr's and then there are Dr's when it comes to what we have to deal with and go through. I was told time after time that I wouldn't have function on the right side of my face again by my ENT (whom I love) but pressed him to find a solution for me. (the conversation went like this: "Dude you put me through hell, you owe me a solid man...find a way for me to kiss my wife again.") and he checked it out and referred me on to a surgeon that has had success with nerve grafts restoring facial function.

Don't lose heart my dear if this is something you want, find the best in the field and see what they can do for you.

Keep your chin up,

Eric

Thanks Eric. Tell me about the nerve graph stuff. Right now I am not even able to smile and that gets to me. This last surgery changed things up again.

I had a C12-7 switch nerve graft done by Dr Kristen Moe out of the UW Medical Center in Seattle WA. Dr. Moe took the nerve that controlled the right side of my tongue and grafted it into my facial nerve to try and restore function.

This operation is best as soon as the damage happens to help the chances of success. I had mine done 18 months after my facial nerve was originally damaged which I was told was the latest I could do it with any chance of success.

Anyway I'm still recovering from that surgery, it takes at least a year to see any changes or if it's going to restore any function. I'm at the year mark now and haven't seen any function yet, however am feeling more in the area.

Point is, what one Dr may not have a clue on, another can make happen or give you a better chance. Brian Hill has spoken to me about world class people he knows that deal with implants, he will be a better resource for you.
