Thursday and Friday he felt fine. Friday night - middle of the night he became violently ill - vomiting, nausea, shaking. He had to go to the ER where they hydrated him and gave him more pain meds, sent him home at 1:00 pm, and then he went back again at 7:00 PM and was admitted and is still there. He doesn't have the pump any more. They are giving him morphine and I don't know why. They won't say other than to stop the pain. Forgive my ignorance, but does the pain come from the chemo being in the body? He is no longer vomiting so I am not sure why morphine? Does anyone have a clue why?
Is this a normal reaction? He had radiation treatment at the beginning of the year for seven weeks and never experienced this kind of reaction -- lots of fatigue, dry mouth, etc.

You should be asking the doc all these questions and making sure you get answers. Im sure there must be a doc on the floor that you could speak to about the morphine concerns. Unfortunately nobody here would be able to answer these questions since we dont know all the medical histoy, type of chemo, doseage, and we lack medcial backgrounds. Wish I could help more but this is something that your husbands doctor should be discussing with you. Hoping your husband improves so he can go home soon. I guess I was just wondering if other people had that violent of reaction to chemo...more than the morphine issue.
