Joined: Sep 2009 Posts: 60 | It is hard to believe, but it is now a year since I finished treatment. I have very few issues, Mouth somewhat dry, just to the point I need a drink with every bite to swallow. Jaw still limited in opening. My beard is ver thin on the side that got the most radiation, so it is now a goatee instead of a full beard. My teeth are sensitive and I cannot taste sweetness.
But I am alive and well.

Never smoked
Drink socially (brew my own beer and love wine. A bottle of scotch lasts me a couple of years)

Joined: Jul 2009 Posts: 1,409 Likes: 1 | Flip, congrats! I passed my own one year just recently and our situations seem to be similar. Although I still have half a numb tongue so taste is limited, I do taste sugar... almost wish I didn't because I like it too much. Dry mouth: yep. Thin beard: yep.
I should add that my RO suggested I give up alcohol, which I've always loved - wine and beer mainly - so I have. Decided I prefered breathing to drinking.

Jun 07, back to riding my bike 100 miles a wk. Now doing 12 Spin classes and 60 outdoor miles per wk. Nov 13 completed Hilly Century ride for Cancer, 104 miles, 1st Place in my age group. Apr 2014 & 15, Spun for 9 straight hrs to raise $$ for YMCA's Livestrong Program. Certified Spin Instructor Jun 2014.
