Hello everyone. I haven't been here in a long time, but knew I could come here....As some of you that remember me, my husband has stage 4 mouth cancer, went through rad/chemo and then surgery..last year has seemed to slowly get better..until. He went to dr yesterday and they found a spot on the bottom of his tongue in the center...when he got me to look..it looks just like when it showed on his gums!! Please, it can't be starting all over again!! Now need to find cancer center, where we were going is just too far from us. I WILL be here alot more..should never have strayed from here, you all were wonderful!!

Husband age 48, diagnosed 5/10/07 with stage 4 mouth cancer, surgury not an option, teeth removed 6/21/07, 5x wks of rad with Cisplatin 1x week for 7-8 week course starting 7/10/07. Update 02/25/08 right maxillectomy and right infratemporal fossa resection

The best list of institutions, listed by survival rates and lots of other qualifiers, is put out by US News and updated on their web site every 6 months. Please do not pick an institution based on geography. The list is at this link, then under medical databases, then the link that says best hospitals. Please read the note below it, as their site has a bad link in it that they have not fixed in 60 days since I first noticed it and notified them.

Hi Kay, sorry you're back so soon.

I had my treatments/surgery done here at UT Cancer in Memphis. It is sometimes still referred to as the Boston-Baskin Clinic. Also, in the national databases the CCC is listed under St. Jude, but the doctors are doing much more than treating kids. My ENT/Surgeon was Sandeep Samant (easily Googlable).

As Brian suggests, do your own research and do not pick simply due to location alone.

Remember, sometimes a spot is just a spot but do be diligent. You know the routine...I pray for the best outcome.
