Too bad it's not Brian Hill. In a fair and just world, it would be.

Amazing technology. The CereProc company recreated his voice with its text-to-speech technologies assisted by decades of recordings that came from from his television appearances and DVD movie commentary tracks. While it needs a little tweaking, the results are mind blowing to say the least.

I did see him on the 6:30 News last night and his smile said everything about the device. What a delight it must be for someone who has not be able to hear the sound of his voice for so many years. I am so happy for him.

Take care,
Eileen

I was impressed by the whole stroy. I agree Charm, having Brian on would be the best.

I appreciate the vote of confidence from you, but I'm just not that interesting a person, and certainly no celebrity..... those kinds of people get attention when they open their mouths. Better that I stay a "facilitator" to others getting out there.

I remain sympathetic to the poor choice of words used in the interview regarding his wife's role, but have to look at the bigger picture, which is the interview did do good for the cause. Knowledge is power, and the more people who know that is disease is out here, there are some risk factors that can be avoided, and most importantly since we can't control all risk factors that we find it early through opportunistic screening when patients have the best chance of winning against it.

Brian, stage 4 oral cancer survivor. OCF Founder and Director. The first responsibility of a leader is to define reality. The last is to say thank you. In between, the leader is a servant.

Brian, to my knowledge, you have forgotten more than most of the ones will ever know on those shows. You are our Daniel Webster of Oral Cancer, it's affects, and most of all, how to encourage we that have it. Thanks for being here and for starting the Foundation. Hell man, we all luv ya .

If I was a drinker..I would drink to that! Brian Hill....we owe you, big time. If we have/had to suffer from cancer, at least having OCF is a source of refuge. Yes, we do all love you, and Thank You!

Not sure where to post this, but there is an article in the April 2010 Marie Claire magazine regarding oral cancer. Unfortunately the patient died, but in many ways is a positive article, and gives more publicity to the disease.

Female, nonsmoker, 70, diag. 5/09 after tongue biopsy: stage IV. Left hemi-gloss. and left selec. neck disec. 30 lymph nodes removed May 20. Over 7 weeks daily rads. with three chemo. PEG removed 12/4/09 Am eating mostly soft foods. Back to work 11/09 Retired 4/1/11. 7 clear scans! Port out 9/11. 2/13. It's back: base of tongue, very invasive
surgery involving lifestyle changes. 2/14: Now speaking w/Passey-Muir valve. Considering a swallow study. Grateful to be alive.

There have been many members here that have died. All were really great people.
