Today marks 1 year since Neil passed from this horrible disease. Even though this is a tough day for me I am thankful for the wonderful people I have met from this site. I feel like this is one good thing that has come from this tragedy. Best wishes to all who continue to fight and the caregivers that stand beside them.

Agreed - thoughts are with you today. I suspect the date brings everything back full force, and we all wish there was something we could do to ease your pain.

I hope you know what an invaluable resource you have been to caregivers AND patients. You have made a huge difference in many lives by sharing what you have gone through and your support of all afflicted. Your love and care is a tribute to both Neil and you as you help with disease management.

I have been thinking of you lately knowing the anniversary of Neil's passing was close at hand. It is a difficult day to get through for sure. Personally I have found the second year a little easier, though I still think of my hubby every day, it seems the memories are now more of the happy times we shared.
Having 5 new grandchildren this past year certainly has helped too.
You are a strong lady and I know you will make the most of every days blessings.

Sue. I have been thinking strongly of you this past week and especially today. It's been 7 months since my Jim passed away. There were a lot of similarities in both our husbands treatments and progression. We've traveled the journey with them and now we travel it with God walking with us. . He is my only strength that gets me through the day. Yes, we have met lots of wonderful people here on the board. I really haven't posted since Jim passed away, but I do at times pay a visit here and my heart breaks when I read the postings and I get all these flash-backs but I am hopeful and delighted when I see "clear margins" etc. There is hope--never give up. I wrap my arms around everyone who suffers with this disease and the caregivers who give their "all" hoping for miracles and doing everything possible to bring comfort and care to our loved ones. God Bless you all.

Husband 2/3 tongue removed March 2008. Free flap. . Stage IV. Radiation and 3 chemo's (cisplatin, taxol & erbitux). .Pet scan Aug 08 showed mets to lungs .Oct 08, recurrence. - In the arms of Jesus, July 15, 2009

Sue, my thoughts are with you. I was so lucky to have met Neil and you. As you mentioned, thru this forum I have met so many wonderful people as well.

To everyone who lost someone, it does get easier but the thoughts of our loved ones are never gone. It is what gets me thru my day and also my work for OCF. Planning these events for OCF is my tribute to my brother to hopefully save a life.

Sue, as time marches on, we seem to remember some of the fun times together and begin to smile at the memories. The fun times, the sad times and all in between times. They are still a part of our lives.

Since posting this. UPMC, Pittsburgh, Oct 2011 until Jan. I averaged about 2 to 3 surgeries a week there. w Can't have jaw made as bone is deteroriating steaily that is left in jaw. Mersa is to blame. Feeding tube . Had trach for 4mos. Got it out April.
--- Passed away 5/14/14, will be greatly missed by everyone here
