Good Morning OCF
As the snow madness engulfs the Washington DC area, I made sure to log onto the Pepsi Challenge first thing just in case our electricity goes down and cuts off my internet access.
We are at #22 this morning - so only need to move up 20 places.
Remember, voting daily for OCF is just like brushing your teeth, except you only need to do it once a day instead of 3x

Hi all,

Just a reminder that you have to be logged in before you vote. The first day that I voted, I made the mistake of hitting the vote button first. When the login box popped up, I logged in, but didn't hit the vote button again. Big boo-boo. Pretty sure my vote wasn't registered.

So log in first, then vote.

With no disrespect to the previous posters, if you vote for OCF and another group, you're sort of canceling out your OCF vote. Each vote for another contender is sort of a vote against OCF.

If you really feel as strongly about another group as you do OCF, by all means, vote for both. I personally belong to Freecycle, one of the top competitors, but I will not vote for them. As much as I believe they have a good cause, I put saving lives way ahead of keeping trash out of landfills. I just can't see any comparison. And bunnies are great, horses are great, cats and dogs are great, etc., etc., but I just can't feel that their cause holds a candle to saving human lives. Sorry, but my gut says vote for OCF only.

Remember to Vote! Vote! Vote! Every day!!!

Hi there Rosie. I was just about to send you an email about the contest and here you are. Time to crank up your network of friends and get them to vote too.

Take care,
Eileen

Well we are back up to 21st. For Facebookers I want to clarify a few things to help get the word out to your friends list a bit more effectively.

When you share your "link" it only displays that information in your "Live News" feed and not on your Status Updates. Since a majority of my friends only read their "Status Updates" use your Update Status option and let your friends know they can vote by following the link on your profile. That way you are getting two ways of informing your friends list to vote.

Also, take a few minutes and target your friends with large friends lists...send them private messages asking for their help in voting. One of the most powerful things we have is our stories...some even our images. Sharing these will help rally your friends into voting everyday. What we want though is to turn some of our voting friends into advocates as well and imploring the to find more "advocates" so we can see exponential growth.

Let's keep this thing rolling folks, get the message out there.

Thanks for the tip. I just did what you suggested. One question--after you vote, does the window change because I can't tell if my vote went through. Doesn't seem to be any way to know if one has voted. So if I don't think my vote was counted and I vote again, will I be booted out of the whole thing for voting a second time? Hmmmmmm....

Anita,

When you follow the link and click "Vote for this" button, it will ask you to sign in or connect with facebook. I just connect with facebook, it will then allow you to vote. and the "Vote Button" will change saying you've voted. It won't allow you to vote more then once for any cause so you won't get booted or banned or anything.

Hope that helps

Eric

This Pepsi contest is being advertised on TV. I saw it last night and they had it on the channel 6 world news tonight. It apparently will be Pepsi's superbowl commercial. Now that the world will know about the contest, how do we get them to vote for us?

Take care,
Eileen

I always see the message that goes something like
"Thank you for your vote"...just above the vote button.
I have already done it for today so will check it again tomorrow.

Hi Eileen,

Hope you're doing well. I don't come to the Forum much, but I do get the newsletter. I was going to check periodically for this anyway, because I had forwarded my Pepsi email about it to Brian and Megan back in January. I was hoping they could do something with it. Probably other people let them know about it, too, but I just had to toot my own horn a bit. whistle wink

And to clarify my earlier post, not that it really matters, but I didn't mean keeping trash out of landfills. Obviously trash belongs there. But all the stuff that people throw away that isn't really trash is what Freecycle focuses on. I have given several items away on Freecycle and even received a couple, but I still won't vote for them. Just can't put them on the same level as OCF. They do have a strong presence, though, and may be quite hard to beat.
