Myself Prakash from India and i had pan masala chewing,drinking,smoking from 7 yrs.
recently i had a visit to the doctor and they said its a starting stage of cancer i.e submucous fibrosis.
i have bumps(pimples like things) which are medium in size at the back of my throat on the tongue.i dont have any problems in
eating,speaking,swallowing but have some problem when i eat spicy food(burning sensation).i feel uncomfortable and irritation thats it
please tell me how to diagnose it correctly and is there any treatment for the same .

Joined: Sep 2006 Posts: 8,311 | Betel nut chewing has been associated with Oral Cancer for some time so if that was one of the ingredients in your pan masala then it is possible that your cells have developed cancer especially in combination with alcohol and tobacco, both of which are also linked to OC.
But there is only one way to determine if you have oral cancer and that is by a biopsy of the suspected cells. NO ONE can visually confirm cancer, I don't care how many years they have been practicing.
Regardless of what else you do please stop ALL OF THE ABOVE. No more pan masala, tobacco or alcohol.
