David, I got a kick out of the shaving joke, but I got PM's asking me to really be careful shaving...some people have no sense of humor.

Liz, yea, the skin graft sites are the worst pain, inside my mouth and from the donor site...my face/neck and skull cuts are largely painless. I'm know it was the best decision to get off Fentanyl, even though I had this surgery on deck, but the oxy really isn't touching the skin graft pain. Yesterday I maxxed out on my tylenol and Oxy limits.....today has been better.

Thanks for all the well wishes everyone, been very helpful.

Eric,

I saw your picture. It looks wonderful!!!! The swelling doesnt look like its too bad. Hope you get a handle on the pain. My doc gave me Neurontin. It works for my jaw pain. Its given for seizures, but its great for nerve pain. I also take oxy for break thru pain and have the patch too. Ask your doc about it, the Neurontin might help you too.

Great Picture. Great attitude. You certainly have been through a lot. You look so young even with those scars. Thanks for being so considerate in posting the picture on profile so us Facebook resisters could still see it. I can't afford another internet addiction beside OCF & TripAdvisor or else I would never get anything done.
Hope you can find some Holiday cheer (Northern Lights & Ice come to mind as seasonal favorites )in addition to the Oxy for your "chronic" pain . You beat the Fentanyl once before, so if needed, take it, you can beat it again.

Christine, thanks for the info on Neurontin, my dr and i discussed it prior to treatment as I do have nerve pain on the op side of my face. He says it would be more effective then the opiates. I looked at him like I wanted to slap him...I'd been telling him for monthes that I'd been feeling nerve pain and he's just now saying something? Dr's...what area ya going to do?

Charm, I was thinking about you when I posted the picture as my profile, knowing you were strictly against joining Facebook. My pain levels are evening out now and I think I can take it until Monday. I just hope they take this stupid gauze out of my mouth then, oy. As far as looking young, I've always had a baby face...a curse when I was younger, a blessing when I was older.

Thanks for all the well wishes

Eric

You the man. In defense of my Facebook antipathy, my son did ask that I not join, since I stuck him with my name, only adding the III and he does not use that on Facebook, plus if I was a member, perhaps I would "friend" him and as most people know, the last thing a 21 year old wants is to have his parent as a Facebook friend or have to deny them. Heck, Baby Face is quite appropriate for you, my friend. I looked ancient at 30 with a big bald spot and thinning hair. At 62, though, I look like I did in my 30s. smile. Still, great picture, you have the style to carry it off as a macho man. You could be the poster boy for oral cancer.
