Been having this constant ringing in my ears for a little while now and it's not due to listening to my Ipod too loudly or the roar of the 425 nailhead engine in my 63 Riviera (arghh arghh arghh!). I do admit that the glasspacks make that thing rather obnoxious...but it's kind of the point with that car really.

I didn't have ringing in my ears during chemo (cis) but it's been fairly consistent of late....anyone experience this?

Even to this day I occasionally experience ringing in my ear. I was told the ringing was damage so if I were you I would get my hearing tested. Doubt there is anything you can do to stop it but maybe it would be nice to get an answer.

Eric,

It is most likely latent damage from the Cisplatin but could be something else. I started having ringing of the ears years ago after a nasty respiratory virus and my right ear is affected to this day.

It is annoying but you do get used to it and forget about it most of the time.

Did you have your hearing checked before treatment to get a baseline. I would have it checked now so you know that aside from the ringing, you don't have hearing loss.

Eric,

I forgot to mention that I do have permanent high frequency hearing loss from my Cisplatin and I started with the ringing in my ears. That's what drove me to get a hearing test but by that time the damage had already been done. That was close to 3 years ago and they aren't any better or worse today.

Hey Eric

Unfortunately Tinnitus is a side effect of Cisplatin. According to all of the ENT's I have talked to Cisplatin is extremely toxic to the inner ear. I had one tell me that they may be a procedure to reduce some of the effects, but no guarantee. Mine is not bad enough, so I declined.

For me, and acceptable trade off !

Eric,

I have also suffered hearing damage from Cisplatin with constant ear ringing and some high frequency hearing loss. I was warned to watch for ringing as a bad sign just prior to my first Chemo session. I noticed it immediately following the session and notified the Oncology staff. I was then switched to another flavor of Chemo for the balance. Only problem was, the damage had already occurred. Oh well, at least I'm still here to hear the ringing!

Hi Eric!

I've had hearing tests done throughout treatment but it wasn't until my last week of chemo/rad that I developed the ringing in the ears, i've gotten use to it now. I was told to stay away from loud music/noises and I still have to continue my follow up appts with the audiologist.

Take care!
Elizabeth
