I had a very painful experience with PEG insertion, the first time they tried they couldn't do it due to how thick my muscular wall was (just coming out of wrestling season where I coached). The next they mildly sedated me, forced air down my throat to bloat me and then with a local made the inscision. I felt everybit of it and much worse the next few days afterwards as the air was escaping my system....it sucked and I was glad for opiates, I was only on hydro+tylenol at the time though and it did only a little to curb the pain.
