What are they doing for the fluid in his lungs and the thrush? And if he still has fluid in the lungs, why is he going to rehab? What do they expect to rehabilitate? Are you still dealing with this local hospital? Is it time to get to Boston where he might get some better treatment or is he too weak to go? If that is the case, records could be sent for a second opinion. Pneumonia in his weakened condition could be very serious.

I have not had good experience with 5 star rehab facilities with a patient that is not capable/willing to take care of himself or for that matter somone who was. Meds not given or not given at proper time, illness not treated, falling down, left in wheelchair by nurses station in pain for hours, over drugged etc. etc. I could go on for hours. My father dropped 20+ lbs in 8 days and noone at rehab noticed because they didn't weigh him. So keep a diligent eye on what he is being fed and his meds and make certain dr sees him if having problems.

Take care,
Eileen
