| Patient Advocate (1000+ posts) Joined: Nov 2005 Posts: 1,128 | Don't confuse PEG with radiation with PEG for other reasons, like constricted throat -- I too am under warning to NOT drink anything -- Has nothing to do with the PEG, per se, and everything to do with my inability to swallow, the danger of aspiration and the subsequent possibility of pneumonia.
I mentioned on my last followup visit that plain or saline water will now go down my throat if it let it because it is thin compared to my secretions, and I was again cautioned not to be swallowing until cleared by swallowing tests (which I am a long way from getting).
Takas, tell your father to stifle the urge -- He really doesn't need pneumonia -- He can try some down the PEG and maybe burp up some taste! <g>.
