Bonnie, I had some fairly extensive surgery in Decenber. 37 nodes, part of jaw, 3 teeth, gum and cheek liner all removed from a "small" spot of Squamous Cell Carcinoma. I got all the worst cases scenarios from the doctors at M.D. Anderson. All said and done, I now do speeches on giving up smokeless tobacco. The right side of my bottom lip is "dead", no muscle control. The numbness in tongue is gone (found this out hard way by biting on it). None of this has affected my ability to lead a normal life.
I did end up getting 2 opinions on mine. First from an oral surgeon, then I went to the cancer experts at M.D.
Whatever you decide, please know I wish y'all the best. God bless and take care.
