The cottage we always rented was at the Ticonderoga end and at that time there was a paper mill in Ti -- To this day, the smell of sulfur from a mill brings back pleasant memories -- I have water-skied the entire length of the lake on a slalom ski and walked across it on the ice in winter.

It became a local Rite of Passage for young people to climb Roger's Rock after I was in college, Army, etc. -- One year, after the season, I kayaked over and climbed it, wearing the traditional gear of bathing suit, tee shirt and bare feet -- I got about half way up and it started to rain lightly, making the moss on the gneiss rock as slippery as goose-grease -- I really started wondering about my lack of common sense, climbing in the rain at 55 YOA, out of season with no one to see me fall (and then I would be polluting the water!), but I made it -- I think of that often when I contemplate this cancer stuf!
