OP Senior Patient Advocate Patient Advocate (old timer, 2000 posts) Joined: Sep 2006 Posts: 8,311 | Well it has taken what has seemed like forever but we have finally gotten Martha covered by the County and just today I have been assured that the 5th Dr we saw yesterday will finally give us an "out of network referral" so that she can be seen and treated at Moffitt. I have been working Moffitt since the beginning and the last thing we needed was that damn referral letter which is near impossible to get. I mean it's like asking one doctor to admit he's not as qualified to treat you as the one he must refer you to and the County also fights it because it's precedent setting. I was told by the County one month ago by a big, mean, fullback like lady in charge that "we just don't allow out of network referrals unless we can't treat her locally AND WE CAN TREAT HER LOCALLY SO IT WON"T HAPPEN."
Martha will FINALLY see a breast surgeon from Moffitt Friday @10:30 and I hope they just take her butt directly into surgery. LOL Martha just doesn't understand how lucky she is.
