The walk last year, in Virginia Beach, was put on by me and my family..............and was made a success of sorts by Barb, Danny, Carol, Rosie, Tom and Nikki, and other oral cancer survivors that attended. Barb and her entire family made tons of money for OCF. I had NO IDEA WHAT I WAS DOING with this walk and I also was NOT in the right frame of mind to take on such an event. I almost put Brian over the edge I do believe. These type of things need to be planned months and months ahead of time and it needs to be a group putting it on, not one family. I also believe a survivor needs to be in a good emotional state to do it. I will happily share my mistakes with anyone trying to plan one, so the same mistakes are not made again.

SCC Left Mandible. Jaw replaced with bone from leg. Neck disection, 37 radiation treatments. Recurrence 8-28-07, stage 2, tongue. One third of tongue removed 10-4-07. 5-23-08 chemo started for tumor behind swallowing passage, Our good friend and much loved OCF member Minnie has been lost to the disease (RIP 10-29-08). We will all miss her greatly.
