Ingredients: 1 lb not too lean Minced beef (you can use any minced meat you prefer i like the flavour of beef, you can also mix dif meats 1/2 lamb 1/2 beef or pork) 2 fresh carrotts diced (you can use canned) 1 14 oz can of small peas (you can use frozen) 1 beef stock cube salt and pepper (i never use salt in my meat only when cooking potatoes) 1 small onion diced (optional)i dont use this in mine) 1 Can of Beef gravey (you can make your own let me know if you need a recipe) mashed potatoes for topping (you can use boxed)i always use fresh)
Directions This can be done on stove top or in the oven But i use a slow cooker. Heat a frying pan on high heat and add your meat make sure you stir and just cook slightly untill brown. Place your meat in to slow cooker add diced carrots if using fresh, add onion if using and mix your stock cube with water (you could use beef stock, i have always used a cube, old habbits and all that...or is it old dog new tricks?!!!)anyway....add salt (if using) and pepper cook on low setting for 2 hours. You will find the bowl kinda looks greasy i always drain my meat mixture at this point but you dont have to. Drain if draining and return meat to the pot add Gravey, peas (and carrots if using canned) cook on low for about half an hour. I usually use this time to make my potatoes after i have creamed them i place them in a shallow oven proof dish, drag a fork lightly over the top to make peakes and broil until golden brown on the top (it's usual for you to top off your meat mixture then transfer to the oven but i find this can make for a sloppy mess so i do it seperately) plate by spooning out meat mixture then adding potatoe on top ...ooo you can also add cheese to the top of the potatoe before broiling thats yummy too.
I think i remembered everything..Happy eating...let me know if its ok...Debz
