My father was diagnosed yesterday with stage IV cancer with a lesion at the base of the tongue with mets to the right neck lymph nodes/right neck. Currently is inoperable, but will start chemo/radiation next Wed. They tell me treatment is palliative,not curative. Is there any survivors out there, anyone who can give me some advice? Many thanks

caregiver to father, stage IV SCC with lesion on base of tongue and mets to right lymph nodes. Current chemotherapy taxol, carboplatin and erbitux. Will start radiation 4/1/08 7 wks, 35 treatments with questionable radiacal neck at end of radiation.
