Hi Herson,

Your mom is four years older than me, my heart goes out to you as a mother. I probably have children your age and I know that they worry every day that they're going to lose me to this cancer and they know it's a very real possibility.

I talk to my girls alot about the cancer, what could happen, what will happen if IT happens and how they will be fine without me, etc. It helps them to share their feelings and fears with me. The oldest have made me promise to not keep anything from them. They want to know if I've been told I have a limited time left, because there are alot of things they want to do with me before that time passes. Your mom probably feels the same, and I bet you do also. She deserves to know how long the docs feel she has, she deserves to decide what to do with her time remaining AND to have this time to start learning how to accept it and deal with it.

SCC Left Mandible. Jaw replaced with bone from leg. Neck disection, 37 radiation treatments. Recurrence 8-28-07, stage 2, tongue. One third of tongue removed 10-4-07. 5-23-08 chemo started for tumor behind swallowing passage, Our good friend and much loved OCF member Minnie has been lost to the disease (RIP 10-29-08). We will all miss her greatly.
