Listen to your Doctor. If you need pain meds, you need them, period. They (the Doctors at cancer care facilities) wean cancer patients off of addictive medications for pain every single day. They know what they're doing, and they're good at it. Do as they tell you when it's time to start weaning. They will not let you suffer, nor be overly uncomfortable.
