It might be helpful and encourgaing to your sister if she got on this forum, or if she spoke with others who have been through teh same treatment and have now resumed their lives.

When my husband was diagnosed with stage III/IV tonsil, base of tongue and nodal cancer two years ago, he was afraid that this would be the end of normalcy, that he would not be able to travel again, even if he survived. However he got a lot of encouragement from speaking to several patients at same hospital (Hopkins) who had been through treatment and were back to work and their lives.

Now it is really just a bad memory -- yes, he is being closely monitored but we are both looking forward and not back -- travelling lal over teh world (next month, Uganda) -- this is a bad beast but it can be beaten!
