Stay focused on the things that are real. Do not allow your mind to wander to the "what if's" The moment you slip to "what if's", then the awfulizing will start. If you feel it happening, close your eyes and focus all your mind on just your breathing. You will find that over time and with practice you can pull your mind out of an anxiety attack.

Mark, 21 Year survivor, SCC right tonsil, 3 nodes positive, one with extra-capsular spread. I never asked what stage (would have scared me anyway) Right side tonsillectomy, radical neck dissection right side, maximum radiation to both sides, no chemo, no PEG, age 40 when diagnosed.
