Make sure you have a whiteboard , or paper and pen, or an IPad for Charles to write on so he can communicate in the postop period. I would also be asking whether Charles is able to have a TEP speaking valve. This valve will enable speech and most prefer this to an Electrolarynx.
It will all go well and you will both come through this.
