Hi Jenn,

I had several biopsies done with the two surgeries I had prior to treatment in an attempt to locate the primary tumor. Both my palatine and lingual tonsils were removed along with biopsies of my tongue, throat, nasopharynx, oropharynx and larynx. The primary was not located and I was treated as an unknown primary/oropharyngeal cancer.

The pain was worse several days after the surgery and more so at the biopsy sites than the tonsil sites. The biopsies of my tongue remained painful for well over a week and took quite a while to heal. It's not unusual to feel pain from tongue biopsies. After all, they're taking chunks of flesh out of it.

Did they give you pain meds? If not, I'd call and see if you can get some to get you through the rough spots. If you experience extreme pain and/or unusual swelling or a discharge from the bumps, consult your doctor right away.

Good luck with the results of the biopsy. Hope you feel better soon.

Positive thoughts and prayers
