I would think it's part of the healing, inflammatory process. Every time I had surgery, my throat hurt for a few days. Did they give you pain medicines, rinse, instructions on discharge? Although, It sounds like an office procedure, I had two biopsies on my tongue, incisional and excisional, and they hurt. Anyway, call the doctor, and see what they say.
