Ask if there have been any cancellations that you could get your appointment moved up. Ive had really good luck with calling around that time of day as most cancellations calls wont happen immediately when the office opens. If they cant move it up thats still ok as Feb 5th is not that long of a wait.
A regular biopsy will tell what the spot is. There are many things like luekaplakia, lichen planus or dysplasia that this could be as oral cancer usually doesnt disappear. Hope it turns otu to be nothing serious!
