I wanted to give a preliminary update. I had my biopsy done this morning and aside from being sick from the anesthesia it went smoothly. The ENT told my husband that after a closer look he's pretty sure the lesion was caused by the mouth guard I wear at night to keep me from grinding my teeth. He said in very rare cases it could still be a cancerous spot so the biopsy is a good idea (plus they'll check it for
HPV and monitor me if it comes back positive).
I am feeling cautiously relieved and will be sure to post back once I know for certain. I have learned one really important lesson from this, my husband and I both agree 100% that our boys (ages 4 and 7 now) will get the
HPV vaccine when they are old enough. I hadn't really given it any thought for them before all this, but I now I want to protect not only them but also the women they will love in the future.
Thank you to everyone on this site for your kind words and encouragement and for reassuring me that I was proactive when I feared I was just being a worrier. I'll be keeping all of you and your journeys in my prayers!
