Mark, once you post a question thats where it will stay unless a board administrator moves it. This question is asking about a procedure which is the topic it is under. This is not a question that I know the answer to so I did not respond. I can only give you general info.

Whenever a surgeon removes part of your body, any replacement will not function quite as good as the original. In this instance I would think that the thyroid is a very important part of your body. Here is some info I found on the web.
