Joined: Jun 2007 Posts: 10,507 Likes: 8 | I watch for your weekly progress reports. Boy the peg incident must have been a big scare. See, I told you that you were a top notch caregiver!!!! Now I hope you believe it. To help manage the tube, after showering have your husband (or you if he wont do it) apply a dab of bacitracin ointment around the peg tube site and cover it with a drain sponge. This will help to keep it clean and healthy. Im one for having the patient be responsible for some of their care so I hope your hubby does some things for himself. Another tip....make sure you take a few minutes every single day for yourself. Even if it is 10 or 15 minutes to sit in a nice hot bath and relax. Even caregivers can get stressed out and their job is a very important one where you cant have a sick day. Some even take anxiety meds to help them thru the rough time. So while you are being a great caregiver, make sure to be kind to yourself and take care of you also
