MA, I'm not as familiar with fungal infections (thrush)as I am with the bacterial kind but I know that with bacterial infections the wrong type of (or not enough to whipe it out)antibiotics can actually cause a mutation producing a more resistant and stronger strain. Even though your tonsils have been removed you do actually still have a set at the base of your tongue as well as a set of adnoids. Could this be a bacterial tonsilitis on remaining tonsil tissue. I only ask because of what you said in your message to me about room for your tongue and I've had tonsilitis soooo many times and on one occassion so bad that they were actually touching eachother (spanning from one side of my mouth to the other), Ask your doc. and ask about Fluconazole.
