I had a C12-7 switch nerve graft done by Dr Kristen Moe out of the UW Medical Center in Seattle WA. Dr. Moe took the nerve that controlled the right side of my tongue and grafted it into my facial nerve to try and restore function.

This operation is best as soon as the damage happens to help the chances of success. I had mine done 18 months after my facial nerve was originally damaged which I was told was the latest I could do it with any chance of success.

Anyway I'm still recovering from that surgery, it takes at least a year to see any changes or if it's going to restore any function. I'm at the year mark now and haven't seen any function yet, however am feeling more in the area.

Point is, what one Dr may not have a clue on, another can make happen or give you a better chance. Brian Hill has spoken to me about world class people he knows that deal with implants, he will be a better resource for you.
