I also had a neck dissection. I am having problems talking and swallowing still. I am worried that my talking will NEVER come back. My speech gets worse as I stand and I seem to have an excess of saliva as well. I am the mom of 4 kids and a nervous wreck. I am probably freaking out too early. My family says that my speech has gotten better but I of course think its worse. Please give me some incite on if it gets better and how long it takes. I just want to eat food and be more "normal" again. Plus my tongue feels like it would if you burned it on something hot. There is sensation, but not a whole lot of taste going on. Thank you so much and many blessings to you all!

I know it hurts - the tongue is full of nerves feel better soon and good luck with the biopsy results.

I just had the top right side removed..so it still looks like my tongue..just with one side being lower than the other. I guess I am rushing things a bit. I just want to talk more normal and not drool everywhere when I am standing upright. I know its not anything to freak out over...but its frustrating and scary to think about. I also think it has to do with the stitches still being in there and one part seems to be sown weird..but I will ask my dr about that on Friday when I get my staples taken out from my neck dissection. Thank you so much for your response. It helps me out more than you know!

They did a flap on me so it wasn't open and as sensitive but I had a crapload of stitches lucky me... patience...
