I had a partial glossectomy of my tongue on Tues 8/12. and I was just wondering how long it will take to recover. I also had a neck dissection. I am having problems talking and swallowing still. I am worried that my talking will NEVER come back. My speech gets worse as I stand and I seem to have an excess of saliva as well. I am the mom of 4 kids and a nervous wreck. I am probably freaking out too early. My family says that my speech has gotten better but I of course think its worse. Please give me some incite on if it gets better and how long it takes. I just want to eat food and be more "normal" again. Plus my tongue feels like it would if you burned it on something hot. There is sensation, but not a whole lot of taste going on.
