THE HOSPITAL IS ABOUT 150 MILES FROM MY HOME AND MY WIFE WOULD LIKE TO BE NEARBY AS I AM EXPECTED TO BE HOSPITALIZED FOR 7 TO 10 DAYS.
THE CHEAPEST HOTEL WE COULD FIND IN THE VICINITY OF THE HOSPITAL WILL COST US $229 PER NIGHT. THERE IS NO WAY WE CAN AFFORD THIS. THINGS ARE ALREADY TIGHT SINCE I HAVE MISSED SO MUCH WORK TRAVELLING BACK AND FORTH TO NYC FOR DOCTOR'S APPOINTMENTS.
ARE THERE ANY AGENCIES OR ASSISTANCE PROGRAMS THAT MIGHT BE ABLE TO HELP US OUT WITH FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE FOR A WEEK AT A HOTEL FOR PATIENT'S FAMILY MEMBERS?

I know that some of the hospitals do, for a minimal fee. belive me I know the issue of money and I also may be going to Sloan Kettering . That is CRAZY to expect someone to come up with that kind of money per night during all this > Also I know somtimes hotels offer a discounted Rates to hospital pts you just have to find out . I would call the hospital and ask or even the hotels

They do not affer any kind of lodging for families. I called a couple of the hotels and the rates they gave us WERE for patients and families!!!!

Not sure if this will work, but try looking for a B&B. (Bed & Breakfast)private housing near the Hospital. See if the prices are better.
Also try the Gospel Union,YMCA,Churches in the area and see if they can give you any ideas.
Hope you find something
Take Care Diane
