The taste and mucous was probably the most horrific part of the treatment for me. I also used the 50/50 salt baking soda in warm water rinse constantly in addition to the sea sickness patch(can't remember the name) worn behind the ear.


Age 33, NS, HPV-
8/01- At 25, SCC on tongue,3cm lesion remvd. L nk diss clr nodes
10/07- 2cm SCC remvd from L tongue
4/08- SCC on L tonsil,tonslctmy,2 wks later PET showed golf-ball szd tumor in tongue.
PEG.IMRT x 35 Cisplatin x 3 ended 7/08. Peg out feb 09 -Clear PET Dec 2010

So true Bill!

I never realized when people said "no taste" they meant exactly that!

I thought they meant awful tastes (metallic, cardboard and worse).

Apparently a few of us never get past that stage until a couple months after Tx.

Lucky I had a PEG!

Kevin it was probably a Transdermal patch but I have never heard anyone else say they used a sea sickness patch for our Tx. Interesting, was that for nausea?

Age 58 at Dx, HPV16+ SCC, Stage IV BOT+2 nodes, non smoker, casual drinker, exercise nut, Cisplatin x 3 & concurrent IMRT x 35,(70 Gy), no surgery, no Peg, Tx at Moffitt over Aug 06. Jun 07, back to riding my bike 100 miles a wk. Now doing 12 Spin classes and 60 outdoor miles per wk. Nov 13 completed Hilly Century ride for Cancer, 104 miles, 1st Place in my age group. Apr 2014 & 15, Spun for 9 straight hrs to raise $$ for YMCA's Livestrong Program. Certified Spin Instructor Jun 2014.
