Every friday I have chemo -Erbitux and Docetaxel,and I have really big problem I am loosing my nails.If someone have the same problem????

I had Erbitux and never heard of that as a side effect. Might have something to do with the Docetaxel. Ask you Dr , he should know the answer.


Since posting this. UPMC, Pittsburgh, Oct 2011 until Jan. I averaged about 2 to 3 surgeries a week there. w Can't have jaw made as bone is deteroriating steaily that is left in jaw. Mersa is to blame. Feeding tube . Had trach for 4mos. Got it out April.

I lost my nails when I was treated with high dose CHOP (cytoxan, Adriamycin, Vincristine, Prednisone) for lymphoma but not until after treatment ended. It did not happen when I was on the Erbitux though. I was able to use clear nail polish to hold down the nails so they wouldn't tear away, but I remember it was huge pain in the butt!
I would definitely mention it to your medical team.

My husband also lost his fingernails and toenails while on the Taxol and Erbitux- but Erbitux didnt cause it, because hes had Erbitux twice and didnt have that happen during his first set of treaments with the carboplatin and Erbitux cocktails.


Caregiver to Erik -1st DX 12/22/2005 SCC of Tongue, T3N1M0, hemi-glossectomy,60 nodes removed, carboplatnin,Erbitux, 35Rads.
Reoccurrence T1N0M0 4/14/08-partial glossectomy-16 weeks Erbitux and Taxol-
3rd reoccurrence 5/18/12- partial glossectomy
