Since posting this. UPMC, Pittsburgh, Oct 2011 until Jan. I averaged about 2 to 3 surgeries a week there. w Can't have jaw made as bone is deteroriating steaily that is left in jaw. Mersa is to blame. Feeding tube . Had trach for 4mos. Got it out April.

40 yr old. Stage IV SCC found left tonsil. PET/CT shows cancer on base of tongue, floor of mouth, lymph nodes on both sides. HPV 16 pos. 6 weeks of cisplatin, 43 days of radiation. 73gy on each side.

Joined: Jun 2007 Posts: 5,260 | According to my Drs. all of them so far. if we have pain, tell the Dr and he should give you a script for whatever it takes for the pain to ease off and give us a break. Too bad they all don't think this way.

That is the truth. The ENT that did my ND. He wont prescribe anything stronger than Loritab 7.5. In fact, when I got out of surgery, I figured I woud have one of those neat buttons. I had one after my girly surgery. Nope. I got Loritab 7.5. That might have been enough if I hadn't been taking them since Sept08. My husband spoke to the MD's nurse. He wont prescribe anything stronger than that even if I were a hospsice patient. I quote "he doesn't want to be involved in anyone's addiction"
I got a copy of the OR orders, the OR record, and my discard paperwork. Went to my lovely GP and he happily precribed something stronger.

No worries, he will get his. I just hope it doesn't hurt too bad or last too long.
