Joined: Mar 2009 Posts: 8 | I'm going for my excisional biopsy tomorrow to take off leukoplakia on the lateral/ventral tongue. I've also had tiny little ulcers (the size of the tip of a pen) right next to the leukoplakia for about a month at least. Does anyone have any experience with these little ulcers and are they always an indication of cancer? When I first had them they hurt when I talked or ate certain foods, especially sugary or spicy but now they don't really bother me. But they are still there and I have always read that it means cancer if they don't heal. Since posting this. UPMC, Pittsburgh, Oct 2011 until Jan. I averaged about 2 to 3 surgeries a week there. w Can't have jaw made as bone is deteroriating steaily that is left in jaw. Mersa is to blame. Feeding tube . Had trach for 4mos. Got it out April.

Joined: Mar 2009 Posts: 8 | So I got the excisional biopsy done on March 24th and got the results back yesterday- NO CANCER! Showed moderate dysplasia and he wants me back in 3 months to recheck and diligent follow up for a while after that I presume. My tongue is still healing so I won't be able to see a darn thing for a few weeks he said but of course I will be watching that area closely for any changes.
I hope that I will not need to be back on this site but if I do I know a lot more than I did when this started. Biopsy on 2/2/10-Clear
Surgery needed again...no later than April 2011
Loving life and just became a mother on 11/25/10
