I am glad that you joke around Jim, it keeps me smiling and reminds me that I should not take things too seriously which was one of my biggest faults.

Martin's ENT consultant said :"We found nasties in the swollen lymphnode" when Martin asked if by nasties he meant cancer the the consultant said yes. I wasn't there as being too optimistic for my own good I didn't beleive it could possibly be cancer and Martin had also said no point in missing work to see the consultant. Like an idiot I listened to him. Martin then called me at work and told me. It was a shock but not really a surprise.
I learnt soon not to listen to him and went to all the appointments, had all the extension numbers of the team and dragged him through his last 2 weeks of radiation.

I got a phone call from the oral surgeon who did the biopsy about 4 days after the biopsy, and he said, "Well, it looks like you've got cancer." He said he set up an appointment with an ENT (ultimately not the person I ended up seeing that day, but it worked out for the better) and then he said he was sorry and told me to have a nice day. Umm...okay. I then locked myself in the storage closet at work with my husband and told him and we told everyone I had a doctors appointment to get to and that was that.
