I wasn't there as being too optimistic for my own good I didn't beleive it could possibly be cancer and Martin had also said no point in missing work to see the consultant. Like an idiot I listened to him. Martin then called me at work and told me. It was a shock but not really a surprise. I learnt soon not to listen to him and went to all the appointments, had all the extension numbers of the team and dragged him through his last 2 weeks of radiation.
Girlfriend to Martin 49 years old at diagnosis Diagnosed with SCC unknown primary June 2008. Cancer found in single node Stage N2A (3 to 6cm). Tonsilectomy 16th june, Radical modified neck dissection left side 30th june. 30 TX radiotherapy ended 9th October First comparative study scan came back clear

He said he set up an appointment with an ENT (ultimately not the person I ended up seeing that day, but it worked out for the better) and then he said he was sorry and told me to have a nice day. Umm...okay. I then locked myself in the storage closet at work with my husband and told him and we told everyone I had a doctors appointment to get to and that was that.
