It seems that any light physical exertion will make me sick and the illnesses last for ever.
Has anyone found a solution. Someone mentioned germanium, has anyone tried it.

There were some NCI sponsored trials in the 80s with organic germanium compound. These compounds were used as potential neoplastic activity. They are toxic.
-> bad idea should you be able to get a hold of them.
There is also germanium mineral water... which will (so they claim) help with:
Healthy airways and breathing* Mental health* Healthy cellular replication (of the breast, lung, larynx, and bladder)* Liver health* Healthy and normal blood pressure* Healthy uterus* Healthy sinuses* Healthy brain tissue* Healthy blood glucose levels* Cardiovascular health*
It probably is also useful to clean your car......

The first year after my treatment I kept isolated as much as possible. I knew that the chemo damage would take time to rebuild. The only place I went was to my appointments.
I took vitamin, high protein diet, lots of liquids. Keeping up with your Dr. appointment and all blood tests. You can ask for a Blood work up if you think something is out of order.
Hope this was of some help.
Take care.. Diane

Oncologist thinks I am "weak" whatever that means and is annoyed with me for coming in as opposed to seeing an internist. They'll typically say it's viral and there is nothing to do. I did not have chemo.
Maybe it's my daughter who brings all kind of stuff from preschool. It'd be difficult to keep away from her.
I do take vitamins b and c and some herbal products, sometimes chinese herbs.

Zinc is one of the ones they put me on after radiation. It was supposed to improve healing and taste.

Strangely enough, zinc tablets make me gag. Re herbal stuff....some of that stuff was extracted with and still is in ethanol. Something to consider. The vitamin D story is particularly interesting. This is one of the few things that I take. http://www.nih.gov/news/health/aug2008/ods-12.htmhttp://ods.od.nih.gov/factsheets/vitamind.asp

The star by the way means that this these claims are not verified. ....Claims that things work but have not been verified.... Many things are claimed but never supported and the products that are promoted are in essence snake oil. If it really does work then it should do so under a controlled environment too. Having said that if someone manages to conclusively prove to me that snake oil (from any snake) works then I too will consider it, but not before. A couple of flashy web sites and references from the 70-80 that are quoted OUT of context do not constitute proof. See also http://www.cancer.org/docroot/ETO/content/ETO_5_3X_Germanium.aspOn a more funny note, I of all people would like to have germanium work... after all how many people are there that have an element named after them? I took zinc sulphate 220 mg in capsule form. It had no taste whatsoever. I also think it helped with the return of my taste buds.
