I am very sure this is in another catagory however I am in no way able to search for it at this time. As you know I am supposed to be on the heal. Right everything has been so-so for the last bit however as my weight keeps droping I am in such pain and canot work. Yes I got laid off because I can no longer do my job. Good personalitys don't carry far when the ecomony is bad huh. Well as the weight has poure off me my bones are in bad pain. I asked my Rad dr if it was possible to have cancer in my bones and he told me that if I did I wouldn't hurt all over that I would have a mass in one local and that would be my problem. He did say that it was possible that I have cancer somewhere else so I guess I am about to go throuhg a battery of test. I have to have a biopsy of my gum and my lip, ugly spots there. But its my bones that are bothering me the very most. mostly in my top back area is the worst but 97% of my bod hurts. Also at 92lbs I have become a total weakling. I eat alot of stuff and drink ensure and do what I am told to do but the weight keeps going. Its been over a year now since the radiation. What to do what to do. Any suggestions??? Thanks Brenda

Hi Brenda, It sounds to me like you are doing all of the right things, seeing your Drs and trying to eat. If you want to gain some weight fast try some of those warm Betty Crocker desserts. The chocolate molten cake one, warm with a big scoop of vanilla ice cream on it worked really well for me. Your weight loss bothers me, tho. When are they starting the tests? Have you ever had a colonoscopy? Just something else to ask you Dr about. Please let us know how it's going, we are together in this. Carol

I did indeed ask the other day if the radiation could have jump started my thyroid into over drive. I do eat alot of cakes and cookies drowned in milk to make them soggy. Gravy up as much as I can. I have found choclate grahm crackers mixed in my oatmeal with lots of milk is good to go down. I don't think of what my food looks like or even taste like anylonger I just want to get it down. I don't know what kind of testing the Drs are going to do but something is NOT right with me and I am worried. I am in so much pain that it is depressing. Normaally I can BOUNCE back on alot But the worry is stoppinjg me. Bad as things are I did just get laid off wow. But I can lay on my hot pad longer yeah. Thanks for the input, Brenda

Hi Breanda.
Sorry to hear you arent doing so well right now. I agree with Ray about having your thyroid checked. Your body is still healing from the devastation of radiation. At one point I was getting around 7000 calories per day for several weeks without gaining weight. Your body needs all those calories to heal. I dont remember if I gave you my choc. peanut butter milkshake recipie before. Of course, try to get the most nutritious things down, including lots of ensure/boost/carnation vhc. You probably would feel so much better if you upped your calories considerably for a few days.

Its easy and has alot of calories, probably at least 2500. All ingredients are approximate.

3 cups chocolate ice cream
2 cups whole milk
3/4 cup peanut butter
1/2 cup choc. syrup
1/2 cup carnation instant breakfast

Christine, Thanks for the recipe but I am allergic to peanutbetter. However my mother made me a shake that was interesting and as we never measure ingredients here I will tell you what she put in it.
4 choclate grahm crackers
honey
choclate syrup
milk
powdered milk
carnation instant breakfast drink
it was thick and very filling. I don't know about the nutritional value it might of had but it didn't make me sick. And that is good because most things I eat that I have loved before hurt my stomach in a double over wishing I could die pain. So I guess you can say I am turning chicken and stay with most things that have in no way made me sick. OATMEAL galore.
However I am hoping this Dr I am going to on Wed. will be someone who can help me if not then I guess I will go back to the drawing board. Thanks again, Brenda
